How To Apply:
Agapé Home Care is licensed by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Community Care Licensing (CCL), Home Care Services Bureau (HCSB) division. As a licensed organization, everyone we employ must first be registered with the HCSB as a “Home Care Aide” (unless already registered). Registration can be done online or by mail, and the HCSB fee for registration is $35. This is the first of three, out-of-pocket expenses required of anyone desiring employment with any HCSB licensed agency; however, this investment into your future will open doors of opportunity for you, and all fees will be reimbursed to you after 30 days of employment. After registering with the HCSB, prospective employees must be Live Scanned for a criminal background clearance (unless already cleared). We recommend the Humboldt Sheriff's Department (HSD) due to accessibility and cost. The total fees for Live Scan processing through HSD is $84 (fees will be reimbursed after 30 days of employment). If you have already been cleared through a qualifying, licensed agency or facility, then a new Live Scan is not required. If you've never been Live Scan cleared (or more than two years has passed since you’ve been associated with a qualifying, licensed agency or facility), you will have to wait for your Live Scan and criminal clearance to be fully processed before we can send you into the field (this can take days or weeks).
If you have anything on your criminal record (arrests, convictions or even previously expunged or dismissed offenses), you will need to fully disclose this information on a Criminal Record Statement (one of HCSB’s required personnel documents) and an “Exemption” will likely need to be granted as an additional part of the background screening process (this can delay the clearance for weeks or longer depending on the offense). Previously obtained Exemptions from qualifying, licensed agencies or facilities can be transferred quickly.
Everyone employed by HCSB licensed agencies are required to obtain a Tuberculosis (TB) clearance within two weeks of being hired (unless already cleared within the last two years). We recommend the Open Door Community Health Center (ODCHC) due to availability and cost; however, individuals can use their own healthcare provider if they prefer. The fee for TB testing through the ODCHC is $30 (fees will be reimbursed after 30 days of employment).
